Cut Flowers - Semi-professional
There is currently huge interest in British-grown cut flowers, thanks in part to the efforts of the 'Flowers from the Farm' producer group. Moles Seeds offers one of the widest ranges of seed-raised cut flower varieties in the UK. In general they are suitable for outdoor production (direct-sown or transplanted) but the use of a poly-tunnel or glasshouse where appropriate will extend the cropping season. What does the term Semi-Professional mean? It is a Europe wide term used to describe growers who are producing cut flower stems for profit but are not producing them in large scale glasshouses or generally for their primary household income. Can varieties best suited to the home cut market be used by cut flower growers? Yes, many of the home cut varieties are equally useful for the grower producing for profit as they are for home cutting, they are however not necessarily bred for the best performance, glasshouse production or ease of longer distance transportation in mind.
