Cut Flower Variety. A cut flower Sweet William that does not require any vernalisation to produce flowers. The sweetly scented flowers in shades of crimson, scarlet, white, pink and purple make ideal constituents of Summer flower arrangements. 60-70cm.
Open-pollinated cut flower varieties - Cultural Details: Biennial, sow April-July, cover with vermiculite - germinates in 2-3 weeks in a cold frame (around 12-15oC). Prick out into module trays when large enough (unless sown directly into modules), then when ready, plant up at 30x30cm, either out-doors or for earlier crop in unheated glasshouse or polythene tunnel (needs exposure to cool conditions to initiate flower buds). Crops May-June the year after sowing. 950 seeds per gram (sow 2g for 1000 plants). Annual Cut Flower Varieties Cultural Details: Germinates 1-2 weeks at 15-18°C. Sow June-August for glasshouse production, sow March-May for outdoor production. Sow 1g to produce 800 plants. Annual Bedding Varieties Cultural Details: Sow February-March, cover with vermiculite, germinates in 2-3 weeks at 15-18°C, transplant into packs after 4 weeks, grow on at around 10°C, sell as green plant with colour label - flowers June onwards. 1000 seeds per gram.
