A compact flowering habit and a flowering speed that makes Shake ideal for packs. Great for containers, baskets, beds and landscapes. The whimsical colour combinations and patterns are a unique colour breakthrough.
Annual, sow on the compost surface from February-April, germinates in 7-10 days at 20°C. Prick out after 4 weeks into packs or pots as required. Grow on at 12-15°C; growth regulators can be used, according to the manufacturers’ guidelines. Sowing to flowering takes around 12 weeks. 9,000 seeds per gram.
Note-Star and Picotee types: Care must be taken when growing these types to avoid high temperatures, high light levels and high soil fertility, as this will increase the proportion of white. Conversely low temperatures, low light and low soil fertility will result in a decrease in the proportion of white.
Sell in: 6-packs (basket & ground cover varieties in 9-10cm pots).
End Use: Baskets, containers and borders.
Grandifloras produce fewer, but larger, flowers than the multifloras.However, flower size is not the only difference between Grandifloras and Multifloras. Multifloras generally grow faster, have more branches and flowers, hence providing more masses of colour. Other differences are smaller, thinner leaves, and flowers are usually not as ruffled or fringed. They also have greater disease resistance and weather tolerance.
