The dignity series features double, lacy flowers on tall sturdy plants. They are well branched and do not require stem support. Great for landscaping and makes a great garden cut flower and border plant. 45-60cm.
Dianthus chinensis Annual, sow January onwards, cover seed lightly with vermiculite. Germinates in around 7 days at 21°C. Prick out into packs or 9-10cm pots after 4-5 weeks. For early flowering, light levels need to be high, and daylength at least 10 hours. Sowing to flowering (packs) approx. 16 weeks. 800 seeds per gram. Sell in: 6-packs, 8-10cm pots. End Use: Borders containers.
Chinensis x Barbatus F1’s These types can be sold not only in the Spring, but also in flower in the Autumn, as they are hardier than the Chinensis types. Sow May or June for flowering in August or September. Sow January February for late spring flowering. Grow on the dry side. Responds well to growth regulator.
Perennial Varieties Perennial, sow May-July, cover seed with vermiculite, germinates in 2 weeks at 18-21°C, 800 seeds per gram. Sell in: 6-packs, 8-10cm pots, generally green plant with colour label, also in flower (compacter types). End Use: Borders, rockeries.
Deltoides (perennial) Can be sown Jan-Feb for flowering Summer, or sown May-July and overwintered for sales the following year. Cover lightly with vermiculite. Germinates in 2 weeks at 18-21°C.
