Microphyllum variety. This essential container subject, traditionally raised from cuttings, is now available from seed. Silvery stems and foliage on vigorous, self-branching plants. Height 1520cm, spread 45-60cm.
‘Strawflower’. Annual - sow direct April-May at around 0.2g/metre of row, in rows 25cm apart. Takes 1-2 weeks to germinate, and 12-16 weeks to flower. Thin plants to around 10cm in the row. 1,400 seeds per gram. End Use: Dried and fresh cut flower.
Compact Varieties - Annual - sow March-April into cell trays, germinate at 16-18oC, then prick out into pots after 4-5 weeks. Sell in: 9-10cm pots. End Use: Containers and borders.
Microphyllum varieties: Annual - sow the pellets Fanuary-March at 21-24oC, 1-2 weeks to germinate - cover the multi-seeded pellets lightly with vermiculite, and keep moist but not too wet. Grow on at 16-18oC. Sell in: 9-10cm pots, baskets. End Use: Baskets and containers, and as a contrasting foliage item in formal bedding schemes.
