A range of excellent hybrid pie-shaped patty pan varieties, with scallop edged fruits. All mature after 45-50 days. Good flavour and texture; with a small scar. Suited for both baby and standard sized fruit production. Light green skin and pale green-white flesh.
Summer squashes are from the same 'sqaush classification' as courgettes and marrows. They are grown as tender annuals with the fruit being used fresh or stored for up to one month. Many types of summer squash exist but the patty pan types are the most popular. 5-7 seeds per gram. Sow April-end of May/early June, at 3.5-5kg per hectare. Space at 60-120 by 90-150cm, giving a plant population of around 5,000-18,000 per hectare. Harvest from July onwards, once the fruits have reached the desired size.
