Luffa cylindrica, the sponge gourd, is an annual species of vine cultivated for its fruit, which can be dried and used as the environmentally friendly Luffa sponge. For best results, grow like a greenhouse Cucumber. Produces yellow flowers attractive to insects. Reaches 300cm in height.
Sow March-May, at 24-30°C.Approx 10 seeds per gram. For fruit production wait until fruits skin is hard and peel off. Dry fruit. Plants require staking.
Sell in: 1 litre pots upwards.
End Use: Greenhouse.
