Group 2, double flowers in a delicate light pink shade with fringed petal edges. Sturdy stems. Well respected cut flower variety.
Cut Flower Technical Information:
• Grow under protection.
• Surface sow on moist growing media, sufficient moisture is required to break pellets.
• Light is required for germination.
• Germination temperature 20oC (pre-cooling at 10oC of the sown moistened tray in the dark for 3 weeks can increase the germination rate and promote a more uniform emergence).
• Ensure good air circulation at all stages.
• Growing on temperature 18-25oC, high night temperatures can induce rosette (induced resting stage) problems.
• Avoid low light levels, supplementary lighting is often required.
• Transplant when seedlings have 4 true leaves, the root system is sensitive so do not allow seedlings to become root bound and care should be taken not to damage the root system at the transplant stage.
• Planting density 64-86/m2 spacing can vary depending on whether the crop is to be grown as a single stem crop or pinched for multi-stems.
• Support wires and good ventilation are required.
Groups: Lisianthus are split into groups to allow the grower to select the most appropriate for their growing conditions because flowering is initiated by:
1. Temperature (higher temperatures increase flower initiation)
2. Light Intensity (higher light intensity increase flower initiation)
3. Day Length (long days increase flower initiation)
Selecting the correct group means that sufficient stem length is reached before flowering is initiated.
• Group 1 - bred for flowering winter to early spring
• Group 2 – bred for flowering late spring to early summer
• Group 3 – bred for flowering high summer
• Group 4 – bred for flowering late summer to early autumn
