These are generally produced outdoors from spring to autumn, with the hardier subjects still producing usable leaves into winter if conditions are warm enough. In general they are suitable for outdoor production (direct-sown or transplanted) but the use of a poly-tunnel or glasshouse where appropriate will extend the cropping season. Leaves can either be picked individually or the whole plant sheared off, afterwards the growing points should re-sprout for subsequent cropping.
